AI vs. Cybersecurity Professionals: Why we need both.

Cybersecurity is an interesting field, and it has received a lot of attention lately. There are many cybersecurity professionals working in the industry, but they often lack the resources to perform all the necessary tasks effectively. How can they be expected to keep up with everything that’s happening in this fast-moving field? Artificial intelligence (AI) may be able to help by automating certain tasks and allowing these experts to focus on more critical matters. This article will look at how AI could affect the role security professionals play in protecting us from cyber threats—and why it will never completely replace them.

AI is believed to take over many Jobs, but is this true for cybersecurity professionals?

I doubt!

You’re not going to wake up one day and find that AI has replaced cybersecurity professionals. No matter how many technological advances we make, humans will always be needed to ensure that the work being done is accurate and thorough.

If you are worried about your job being taken over by AI, don’t be! Instead of replacing human cybersecurity professionals, artificial intelligence will actually help them with their jobs by helping to sift through massive amounts of data so they can focus on more important tasks. The use of artificial intelligence in this way can also help find previously unknown threats that would have otherwise gone unnoticed by humans alone.

While it may seem like AI is taking over every sector, there are still some situations where having a human touch is necessary: machine learning algorithms can only learn from what they’re given—so if they aren’t trained properly or fed accurate information from the start, then the results could be inaccurate or even misleading! Additionally, because machines are susceptible to being tricked into making mistakes (which is something humans do all the time), having some sort of oversight from actual humans helps ensure these types of mistakes won’t happen as often when using artificial intelligence tools like spam filters for example; since spam filters aren’t perfect at detecting all forms of spam content—they often miss some messages which end up getting sent anyways!

How might AI change the role of cybersecurity professionals?

  • It can help you with many tasks that are repetitive, tedious, and time-consuming. For example:
  • Filtering through massive amounts of data to detect an intrusion
  • Parsing through thousands or millions of alerts from your network monitoring tools in order to identify potential threats”
  • Threat detection and response
  • Virtual security analyst
  • AI can help cybersecurity professionals to ensure compliance with regulations and standards, such as GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI DSS.
  • Risk assessment
  • Predictive analytics

How organizations should prepare for the future with AI?

To prepare for this future, organizations must understand how to use AI in a way that complements human cybersecurity professionals. A good place to start is by asking yourself:

  • What does your organization need?
  • How will you use it?
  • How can it help?

It’s also important to consider the limitations of AI and machine learning. For example, while they may be able to learn from past data and make predictions based on those predictions, they cannot explain why they made their decisions—and this may lead them down the wrong path in some cases. In addition, while humans are known for being creative problem solvers who can adapt quickly when new challenges arise, computers operate within strict parameters and often lack common sense or intuition necessary when making decisions in complex environments with many variables at play (like cybersecurity).

With the emergence of AI technologies like machine learning, many cybersecurity professionals are concerned about their future role in the field. But while it’s true that these technologies will eliminate some jobs (such as those related to repetitive chores), they also create new opportunities for professionals who know how use them effectively.

Conclusion

The future of cybersecurity is an exciting one, but it’s not all about AI.

I personally think need to be careful when we talk about how much AI can do. It is important to remember that there will always be things that humans can do better than machines—including cybersecurity.  As long as we have people who know their stuff and can also teach machines how to see patterns or detect anomalies in data sets, then everyone wins!
